When to pause recovery
Operational reasons to pause, and how to do it without losing in-flight retries.

Recovery runs 24/7 by default. There are a handful of situations where pausing briefly is the right call.
Good reasons to pause
- Mid-migration: moving billing to a new Stripe account, changing plan SKUs.
- Brand issue: your primary domain had a deliverability incident and dunning emails are bouncing.
- Customer-facing incident: you don't want the first email the customer sees to be a failed-payment notice.
- Legal hold: your legal team needs to review dunning copy in a specific jurisdiction.
How to pause
Settings → Recovery → Pause. You can pause globally, per-plan, or per-customer-segment.
What happens to in-flight retries
In-flight retries are held, not cancelled. When you resume, they pick up on the correct day of their cadence. No double-send, no skipped emails.
